When my son was four, he picked up five rocks at the OBOD East Coast Gather. He handed them to me saying, “Momma, you need to make something beautiful with these.”
In fairytales, the gifts of a child have strong magic. I don’t know how beautiful it ended up being, but at least I was finally able to fulfill my son’s charge. I feel a great sense of peace when I wear it.
And, speaking of apotropaics, I’ve had these nazar beads for a protection rosary for quite a while now. Completing my son’s necklace somehow removed a creative block I hadn’t realized it was there, and the design for this piece followed quickly after.
This little lovely is now hanging from my rearview mirror. I live in Massachusetts. If you’ve ever driven here, you’ll understand why this should be a standard issue piece for all vehicles!
These are great! I love the greenish square beads in the first necklace–do you remember what they are made of and/or where you got them?

Thank you! The rectangular beads are glass. Unfortunately, I got them about 5 years ago from a bead store in MA which has since gone out of business.
